Vacuum forming is a highly efficient manufacturing process used to produce durable, lightweight plastic components with consistent shape and detail. At Eco Form Plastics, vacuum forming is one of our core capabilities, allowing us to manufacture custom plastic parts for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

By combining advanced thermoforming equipment with experienced craftsmanship, we are able to deliver precision components that meet the performance and quality standards required for modern manufacturing.

How Vacuum Forming Works

Vacuum forming begins with heating a sheet of plastic until it becomes flexible. The heated material is then placed over a custom mold, and vacuum pressure is applied to pull the plastic tightly against the mold surface.

Once cooled, the formed part maintains the exact shape of the mold. The component is then trimmed and finished using CNC machining or robotic trimming to achieve precise dimensions and clean edges.

This process allows for the efficient production of high-quality plastic components while maintaining excellent structural strength and detail.

Advantages of Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming offers several advantages compared to other plastic manufacturing methods:

• Cost-effective tooling compared to injection molding
• Ideal for both prototypes and production runs
• Excellent strength-to-weight ratio
• Consistent and repeatable results
• Ability to form large or complex components

These benefits make vacuum forming an excellent choice for many industrial and commercial applications.

Materials We Work With

Eco Form Plastics works with a variety of thermoplastic materials depending on the requirements of each project. Common materials include:

• ABS
• Polycarbonate
• Acrylic
• PVC
• HDPE
• PETG

Each material offers different properties such as strength, flexibility, transparency, or impact resistance.

Applications

Vacuum formed plastic components are used in many industries, including:

• Industrial equipment housings
• Automotive components
• Protective covers and enclosures
• Packaging trays and inserts
• Film and entertainment industry props
• Custom industrial components

Our team works closely with clients to ensure the design, material selection, and manufacturing process meet the specific requirements of each application.
